The Eastman & McNeill Journey
on Bowen Island
( 1916 - 2026 )
This 2026 book was inspired by an exhibit at the Bowen Island Museum & Archives entitled: “Mt. Gardner Park: Art, History and Family Ties, featuring the Eastman / McNeill Journey, 1916-2024” ran from June through October, 2024. It explored the history of Mt. Gardner through the eyes of Mack and Antonia Eastman and their descendants.
The subsequent exhibit at the Museum & Archives in November 2024 was devoted to “Remembrance Day” and featured stories of Bowen veterans, survivors and neighbors affected by war. Mack Eastman’s first-hand experience during World War I was well documented throughout the exhibit. This book therefore captures highlights of both exhibits, including anecdotes and events in the Eastmans' full lives. Although the exhibit was on display in 2024, this book was updated in June 2026.
